Creating your child’s portrait-the process.

As the parents of two beautiful young daughters, we understand what it is to work with and more importantly connect with children, so that they feel comfortable enough to let their true selves shine through. We appreciate that it is difficult for any young child to sit still while his or her portrait is being sketched, so we create the artwork from reference photos taken at the artist’s studio. We prefer taking this reference material from here as it allows us the optimum in natural and controlled light, but we can come to your home if you feel your child is more comfortable in their own surroundings.

Our portraits are 60cm x 45cm in size and are on archival quality paper-board with a selection of 6 neutral colour tones for you to choose from. They are rendered in charcoal, graphite and white conte with a splash of watercolour.  Most of our clients choose to personalise their artwork with the addition of the child’s name, this choice is entirely left to you.

We are happy to advise you in clothing choice for the sitting and we strongly suggest you to bring a selection of clothes (of varying colour) and accessories for our artist to draw inspiration from. Clothing is rendered from shoulders up only, please view examples in our Gallery.

After you have booked your sitting, we ask for a 25% deposit payable at the first session, with the balance due after completion, which is usually within 14 days or so.

The finished artwork is suitably protected and packaged but is unframed as we feel that framing is a decision best made by you.  As the artwork is ‘dry media’ we strongly suggest it be framed as soon as possible.  We are more than happy to advise you on your framing options.
